UberChic Beauty Stamping Plate 4-01 and Uber Mat Review

Press  Sample

Hey there!  I'm so excited for today's post because, not only do I have a review of another new stamping plate from UberChic Beauty (plate 4-01) but I also have some photos of their exciting new product, the Uber Mat which has gained massive popularity already.  I did two mani's with this plate - for one of which I made decals using this nifty new mat.  This mat really is going to be a game changer in the nail art world.  Keep reading to find out all the details.

Here is a scan of the plate I decided to look at today.  This is Plate 4-01 from the brand new Collection 4.  Lately I've been reviewing the specialty-type plates from UberChic but I will always love the collections that Brittany comes up with.  She has such a knack for coming up with beautiful designs, especially florals (and this plate has a lot of them).  As with the other UberChic Beauty plates, the plate measures 9.5 x 14.5 cm with the full nail images measuring 17 x 21 mm which should be large enough for most people's nails.  4-01 also has a few smaller individual images and a large buffet-style image (bottom left corner) that will make for a gorgeous stamping mani.  I noticed that on for the florals on this plate, most have a close up and a wider view of the same image (a feature I took advantage of for today's designs).

For the first design I did, I made stamping decals with two of the images from 4-01 and the UberChic Mat.  I have posted a video on Instagram of exactly how they were made for those of you who are curious but, briefly, I painted a layer of Sally Hansen Hard As Nails on the mat and once that was dry, stamped with Mundo de Unas Black and filled the images with SpaRitual Wilderness, Mentality Dapper and China Glaze Treble Maker.  After leaving them to dry I removed from the mat and placed them on my nails (with a white base color), using B Squared Lacquer's top coat.  After cleaning with acetone I finished with a coat of HK Girl and I was good to go.

For my second mani, I did a gradient with KBShimmer How You Dune? and China Glaze Tart-y For The Party that I then topped with KBShimmer's I Only Have Ice for You.  Then I stamped with the adorable dragonflies with Mundo de Unas Gold and finished with HK Girl.  This was so pretty and girly to wear.

And finally, the Uber Mat!  This is a flexible, acetone/nail polish remover-resistant silicon mat that must have some sort of magic infused into it that keeps polish from sticking too badly (which is what makes it great for decals and makes clean up fairly easy).  It measures 16 x 12 inches and is slightly transparent (my photo is on my wooden table so you can see how transparent it is).  It would be nice if it was slightly more transparent for the purposes of decals (I usually make mine on clear sheet protectors, not stampers) but I didn't find the minor level of opacity that it has to be a hindrance when I made my decals for the above mani.

Below is a photo after I played with the mat for awhile.  I took advantage of it in every way possible right away.  I've made decals, checked out color combos, scraped my stamping onto it, hence the minor staining.  Some highly pigmented stamping polishes can stain it but I'm not concerned with keeping it pretty, only it's usefulness and it is definitely useful.  It's going to save me a fortune in paper towel (which is what I usually have under my stamping plates when I scrape them) and practice wheels.  The decals are easy to pull off, as is the polish testing areas and for the areas that I scraped polish onto, I just give it a quick wipe with acetone (since the mat with acetone resistant) or a few rolls with a lint roller to clean it up.  In case you can't tell, I'm pretty much in love with the Uber Mat.

Collection 4 is currently available here.  Unfortunately the mat is sold out at the moment (it sold out FAST!) but Brittany is predicting a restock around August 28, 2015.   Be sure to follow UberChic Beauty on Facebook and Instagram to get updates as to exactly when the Uber Mat will be restocked.
