My Mani Box Review - A Tangled Web November 2018

Press  Sample

Hey there!  Oh should I say Aloha since I'm currently enjoying my Maui vacation.  Everyone else is getting a good night's sleep to prepare for our Road To Hana trip tomorrow (which, as far as I understand it, is a full day drive around the island).  I get crazy motion sickness but I put an anti-motion sickness patch behind my ear and have a purse full of drugs so I'm hoping I won't be getting sick on the side of the road tomorrow.  But before that, I have another My Mani Box review for everyone.  My Mani Box is Beautometry's nail art subscription box, always with an indie polish, 2 MoYou London plates and more.  This box was packed with goodies.  Let's take a look!

Maniology Women's Empowerment Stamping Plates

Affiliate Code

Hey there!  I'm currently sitting in the airport waiting for my flight to Maui (woohoo!) and I thought it'd be the perfect time for a Maniology review (since they are lucky enough to be based in Hawaii).  They recently released two Women's Empowerment plates.  Our nail polish community has a ton of great women in it (and some great men as well).  I think it's lovely that they designed two plates to celebrate us.  Since there are so many wonderful indie maker women, I thought it'd be nice to focus my mani's on them as well so I used all polishes made by some powerful women.  I wish I had enough time to do manis with all of the great women makers but I could only focus on a few for this post.  But in case any of you are reading this, we appreciate you all!  And for anyone who is interested in purchasing any Maniology products, please use the coupon code COPY10 to save 10% (or $5 off your first Mani X Me box)

My Mani Box Review - Fantastic Beasts (October 2018)

Press  Sample

Hey there!  Hope everyone had a great weekend!  Mine was busy but fun.  On Saturday I tie-dyed shirts with my family, went to a potluck at my friends', spent some time with another friend and on Sunday I met another friend's brand new baby and went and saw Captain Marvel.  By Sunday evening I was so tired!  I didn't even get any nail stuff done.  Luckily I have a few posts worth of stuff done already so I won't go AWOL this week.  Today I have a quick look at what was in October 2018's Fantastic Beasts My Mani Box.  This is the perfect time for me personally to be checking it out since I'm finally putting in the effort to watch the Harry Potter movies.  I got through the first two in the last few days so I expect, if I keep at it, I'll be watching Fantastic Beasts soon enough.

The Digit-al Dozen does Books - Romeo and Juliet

Hey there!  We're at the end of the week and that means my final book mani for The Digit-al Dozen's theme this month.  I won't even pretend like these were particularly inspired.  I bought this Romeo and Juliet plate knowing this theme was coming up and because my sister teaches Romeo and Juliet in her English class and I thought she might like to use it one day.  I did read Romeo and Juliet back in the day (for fun, not even for school, that's how big a nerd I am) but this is another instance where the movie wins over the books.  I have probably seen Baz Luhrmann's rendition of Romeo and Juliet 50 times.  What can I say, just like for The Great Gatsby which I did the other day, his movies are really exciting versions of pretty dull books.  Not that Romeo and Juliet is dull, but old English just isn't my thing...

The Digit-al Dozen does Books - Watchmen

Hey there!  For my fourth Digit-al Dozen book mani, I have my one and only freehand design this week.  Today I did Watchmen.  When I was trying to come up with book ideas, I was talking to my friend who normally takes zero interest in my nail art but he came in handy this time!  He said "does a graphic novel count?" and I immediately knew what he was thinking.  This was a book I read way back in the day, before the movie was released.  I remember ordering it and seeing it was a graphic novel.  In my mind a graphic novel was a novel, with a few pictures.  Little did I know it was a giant comic.  I've never been a comic fan but this book was great!  I should probably re-read it before the HBO show comes out!

The Digit-al Dozen does Book - The Great Gatsby

Hey there!  For Day 3 of The Digit-al Dozen's Book Week, I did a book I absolutely hated, The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald.  Now, it's bold of me to say that since it's a classic but I more or less detested every character in it.  That being said, it's one of my favourite movies.  I love how Baz Luhrmann adapts stories to movies.  Plus the soundtrack is amazing.  So my nails are a mix of the book cover plus the movie, with it's art deco motifs.

Maniology Spring Occasions Bundle

Affiliate Code

Hey there!  I'm back for a second time today because I don't want to wait to share this fun little nail art set from Maniology.  They have a released a mini Spring Occasions Bundle which contains a stamping plate, a polish, 2 sheets of nail stickers and an ice cube stamper that is currently only $15 USD.  Or, if you don't like the bundle, each item can also be purchased separately but the bundle is certainly a better value.  I spent my weekend playing with all the items and can happily say I had no issues.  If you're interested in any Maniology products, or the Mani X Me box, please use the coupon code COPY10 to save yourself some moolah!

The Digit-al Dozen does Books - Harry Potter

Hey there!  For 2 day of The Digit-al Dozen's Book week, I did (almost) everyone's favourites...Harry Potter!  I re-read these books last summer and still absolutely loved them.  And again, was genuinely scared towards the end so I can't imagine how kids feel reading them.  I still need to watch the movies though so I can keep listening to the podcast Binge Mode: Harry Potter.  I have had all the discs sitting beside my TV since summer but still haven't watched them.  I should probably get to that so I can give them back to my sister but I just don't like movies.  I know, I'm a weirdo.  I just prefer to watch TV while I play with my nail polish...

The Digit-al Dozen does Books - The Secret Life of Bees

Hey there!  It's time for a new Digit-al Dozen week!  Normally I'm so incredibly pumped but this week was HARD!  For March, we're doing a book theme.  I'm someone who loves reading but who has always found translating the books I love onto my nails to be a tough task.  But I did my best for this week.  Secretly, I modelled most of my manis after books that just happened to fit some plates I recently bought and wanted to use so they're not necessarily my favorite books but they are all books I've read.  I actually bought one of the plates just because I knew this week was coming up.  A lot of the plates I buy go unused because I tend to have a lot of plates to review but I'm happy to say that all the plates from my last Clear Jelly Stamper order have officially been used...woohoo!  I'm starting off this week with The Secret Life of Bees, a book from 2001 by Sue Monk Kidd.  I'm not going to lie.  I didn't really remember what this book was about so I started re-reading it when I did this mani.  I'm about halfway through re-reading it.  I hope it really is about "bee-ing kind"!

My Mani Box - Cheers To The Holiday (December 2018)

Press  Sample

Hey there!  Earlier this week I said I'd have more My Mani Box reviews coming up and I'm already back with another: December 2018's Cheers To The Holidays.  Again, if you haven't heard, My Mani Box is a nail art subscription box that always includes 2 MoYou London stamping plates, a polish plus other nail art goodies.  I was worried December's box might be too winter-y.  Little did I know that I'd be in blizzard-like weather today.  March 8th and we're getting 6 inches of snow today.  But don't worry, if you decide to check out My Mani Box yourself, you won't be getting winter themed plates.  This month's theme is Birds Of A Feather so I can't imagine there'd be any snow in there (since most of the world isn't as chilly as we are up in Canada).

UberChic Beauty Secret Garden and Cultural Harmony Stamping Plates

Press  Sample

Hey there!  I hope every has had a good Thursday.  I personally can't wait for Friday.  This week has felt looonnngggg!!  But the highlight of it was getting to play with the new UberChic Beauty stamping plates the last couple of nights.  I received the Secret Garden plate and the Cultural Harmony plate on Monday after work and they jumped to the top of my "must try" pile.  I definitely wasn't disappointed.  Normally I don't get things posted so quickly but these couldn't wait.  So now you get to see what I've worn yesterday and today (and the ones I had to do and take off right away so I could blog about them sooner...sad face).

Maniology Fruit Deco Layers (M028 and M029) Stamping Plate Review

Affiliate Code

Hey there!  Hope everyone is doing well today.  Personally I've been stuck in a basement at work all day today so it's good to be above ground and seeing the sky again!  Today I'm taking a look at two of the newer stamping plates from Maniology.  The Fruit Deco Layers plates were released last month as their first big leap into layered stamping plates.  The two plates released so far are quite unrelated; the first has a bunch of fruit images (kinda like a fruit bowl for your nails...yum!!) and the second has what they call "kitchen tile" images that are really pretty!  I did 5 manis so far with these plates (for the fifth, you'll need to scroll down since I didn't include it in the collage) and they're great.  If you've never tried layered stamping, now is your chance.  And don't forget to use the code COPY10 to save 10% off these already inexpensive plates!

My Mani Box - I Love Unicorns (August 2018)

Press  Sample

Hey there!  Last week I got the mother of all review packages from the lovely folks over at Beautometry, including a few months worth of My Mani Box collections.  For those that are unaware, My Mani Box is a monthly nail art box (which you can purchase monthly or at a reduced subscription rate) that always includes indie polish, 2 MoYou London stamping plates and some extras.  I'll have a look at all that I received over the next couple of weeks but for now I'm starting with August of last year.  It had the theme of I Love Unicorns so you better believe there was a ton of unicorn-related items in there.  While this theme is over, it gives you an idea of the type of items that you could expect in these boxes.  I'll have a look at a few of them over the next couple weeks which

Delush Polish The Rising Maidens Collection

Press  Sample

Hey there!  I'm super pumped today to be sharing Delush Polish brand new collection.  The Rising Maidens collection, inspired by The Handmaid's Tale, a fantastic show and book (if I'm remembering high school English class as well as I think I do) just launched today.  This is a collection of 7 incredibly unique polishes.  It felt like every polish had some sort of surprise in it.  There's magnetics, shimmers, flakies and even one that is thermal AND magnetic.  It's been awhile since Delush released a new collection but these are well worth the wait.  Let's have a little look!

Maniology Mani X Me March 2019 Review

Affiliate Code

Hey there!  I am on the ball this month!  It's only March 1 and I'm ready to go with this month's Maniology Mani X Me nail art subscription box review.  For those that don't know, Maniology is lucky enough to be based in beautiful Hawaii so they took inspiration from their environment with this month's theme of Pure Aloha.  The box contains 2 exclusive stamping plates, focusing on the birds and the flowers of the islands, 2 stamping polishes and a locally-made jar of balm (and an Ice Cube Clear Stamper, if it's your first month).  I was so excited for this box as soon as I saw a preview of it.  I'm a giant homebody and don't really enjoy travelling but I've been to Hawaii twice and I'm going for a third time at the end of this month!  How perfect would these products be for my vacation nails?  And, as a note, while Mani X Me is a subscription box, you can just sign up month by month if you don't want the commitment (though the prices change as you increase subscription time).  And you can save $5 off your first box by using my COPY10 coupon code.
