Here's a look at my original, from November of 2013. Just last week I was going to put all my old photos onto an external hard drive to save some space on my computer. Good thing I haven't done that yet!
For the original I used mostly mainstream polishes but for my recreation I wanted to use more indies so I did a gradient of Moonflower Polish Lemon, Azul and Navy Blue. For the last pass of sponging, I also included Pretty Serious Hot Summer Nights (like I used in the original) because I like the sparkle. The blue and yellow combined more and created more of a green gradient, making it look more like the northern lights than the start of night. I love northern lights so I was okay with that, even if it doesn't look a much like the original.
This time I stamped some trees from Maniology (formerly Bundle Monster) BM-S178 and S187 with Mundo de Unas Black.
Lastly I added the moon and a few stars with Mundo de Unas White. Acrylic paint might have been easier but my stamping polish was out so I used that instead. Then I finished with some Vibrant Vinyls Fast & Hard top coat.
I'm curious to hear if you like the original or the new version better. They turned out pretty different so I have room in my heart for both, haha! In the links below you can find everyone else's start of their re-creation week.
'Til next time...
