The Digit-al Dozen does Recreating Your First Blog Posts - Brushstrokes with Negative Space Stamping

Hey there!  It's Day 2 of The Digit-al Dozen's week of recreating our first blog posts.  Today I did another early favourite of mine.  It was a jewel-toned brushstroke mani (which kinda looked like crap on its own) which I saved with some negative space stamping.  I'd be willing to bet this was the first negative space stamping I ever did.  I wouldn't have even have had a name for it back then.  It was love at first stamp.  I still love negative space so darn much!

Here's a look at the original.  That stamping turned out pretty good, if I do say so myself.  Though I'm happy I have more opaque stamping polishes now.

Once again, the base of this was a hot mess.  At least this time I knew where I was going with it so I knew I didn't need it to look nice on its own.

Like yesterday's, I tried to use more indies in my re-creation.  I obviously hadn't discovered indie polish so early in my blogging life.  I did still use some mainstream polishes here because I don't have metallic shimmer-y indies in all the rainbow of colors I wanted.  I used Tonic Polish Incandescent for a base and then a whole pile of others on top:

Tonic Polish #chibound

Tonic Polish Indiglo
Tonic Polish Lava Lust
A England Perceval
A England Holy Grail
Vapid Lacquer Eligos
Parrot Polish Blue Macaw
OPI German-i-cure
OPI Deutsch You Want Me Baby

The stamping image is from Messy Mansion MM20.  Messy Mansion has seemed to have disappeared but I didn't hear of why.  I hope everything is okay and that they come back.  They had amazing plates.

This time the stamping was done with Mundo de Unas White, which is far more opaque than the Konad I used back in the day.  For a shiny finish I topped with Vibrant Vinyls Fast & Hard top coat.

I also wanted to see how this would look with a matte top coat so I tried it out too.  I think I like the shiny more though.

That's the end of day 2 for me.  I guess it's time for me to go home and continue the task of organizing my swatch sticks.  I started last night but I've put it off for so long that it appears to be a two night job.  Mental note, stay on top of it from now on!

'Til next time...
