Chinese New Year Nail Art aka Sunday Stamping on a Thursday?!

Hey there!  Chinese New Year is the theme of this week's Sunday stamping challenge so technically I should post these on Sunday but that's way less fun than posting them on the special day.  I was bound and determined to do some sort of Chinese/Lunar New Year nail art.  Tomorrow brings us the year of the horse and I was born in the year of the horse.  Sounds perfect, right?!  Nope, according to my Chinese co-worker, it's actually bad luck.  So I'll wear some red, have my red nails and I even bought new towels and put on clean sheets (other superstitions taught to me by another Chinese friend).  Honestly, the last couple years have been pretty tough ones for me so I'm throwing away all my scientific sensibilities and following superstition, just in case...

Holographic Snakeskin Nail Stamping

Hey there!  Last weekend I was severely lacking in nail art ideas so I asked on my Facebook page if there was anything anybody wanted to see.  I received a couple of very welcome ideas, one of which was snakeskin.  I'd been wanting to use the MoYou London snakeskin image so I jumped on that idea right away!

Sunday Stamping - Mani using 3 purples

Hey there!  I hope everyone is having a fantastic weekend so far.  I'm finally not writing up a Sunday Stamping post at quarter to midnight.  Hooray!  Instead I'm writing it very late on Saturday night which technically makes it Sunday.  This week's Adventures In Stamping theme was a "mani using 3 purples" and here's what I came up with.  Here is a Picture Polish gradient with Vivid Lacquer stamping.

The Neighbourhood/The NBHD Nail Art

Hey guys!  I meant to post this yesterday but then I got distracted (by cleaning, of all things...) and didn't get around to it.  At least now I have a clean place to live in for the weekend!  Anyways, I wanted to share some nail art I did last weekend inspired by the album cover of The Neighbourhood's I Love You.  This album was released in April but I only discovered it last month after I found I had Shazamed the same song twice which seemed like a good enough reason to buy the album.

Birds on a Wire Stamping - Inspired by Messy Mansion

Hey there!  Today I want to share some almost "copycat" nails I did after seeing this picture on Messy Mansion's Instagram.  She did a cool blue-white gradient but, since I wasn't in the mood to clean up the mess I make when I gradient my nails, I sponged on some easy clouds instead.

Sunday Stamping - Inspired by fabric

Hey there!  First of all I want to thank anyone who has been involved with the Facebook Share the Love movement.  It was started by Maria at NailNation3000 in celebration for her hitting 100K Likes.  She's having a huge giveaway and started sharing bloggers/indie brand's Facebook pages.  Others followed suit and many nail polish pages are getting lots of love.  Personally mine has grown by over 7000 likes which is so freaking crazy to me!  Honestly I started this blog 4 months ago because I truly love nail polish/nail art, not for popularity but, I'm not going to lie, it feels really nice to see people interested in what I have to show and it couldn't have come at a better time.  My personal life kind of went in the toilet this weekend so all the new love did a lot of lighten my mood.

Now onto Adventures in Stamping's Sunday challenge.  For those of you who don't know, there's a Facebook group dedicated to stamping that announces a new theme each Wednesday with the manicures to be posted on Sunday.  This week's theme was "inspired by fabric".  So I looked around my place and realized that I'm so not fashionable and the only patterns I have are all stripes.  But that's a little boring so I dug this dress out of my closet and found a stamp that best matched it.

Broken Mirror Nail Stamping & OPI Push and Shove Swatch

Hey guys!  I have a love of metallic nail polishes, particularly silver ones (maybe) I secretly want to be a robot) so when I saw posts showing OPI's chrome polish, Push & Shove, from the Gwen Stefani collection I knew I had to have it.  I was so excited when I received my Nail Polish Canada order a couple of days ago!  And I just happened to receive my order of the new Winstonia stamping plates the same day and, of course, I couldn't leave those untried.  So here is Push & Shove with an image from Winstonia W206 that came out looking like a broken mirror to me.

Renaissance Angel Stamping

Nothing to Disclose

Hey there!  Tonight I wanted to share a manicure I did awhile ago and never got around to showing.  This is Girly Bits Eggnogaholic and some MoYou London Artist -10 stamping.

Sunday Stamping - Inspired by a TV show you're watching

Hey there!  I hope everyone had a good weekend.  All I can say is holy crap have I ever been a slacker lately!  Not just with my blog and nail stuff but with everything!  I feel like I wasted my weekend.  But yesterday I did go to a DSLR camera course.  Now I know a bit more about how to use my camera so I guess it wasn't a total waste of a weekend.  Approximately the only other thing I managed to accomplish was this manicure.

This week's Adventure in Stamping theme was "Inspired by a TV show you're watching" which was surprisingly difficult for me to do with stamping.  The show I went with is Doctor Who, or rather certain episodes of Doctor Who.  Can you guess which ones?

WHAM! BANG! POW! BOOM! Stamping Decals

Nothing to Disclose

Hey there!  I meant to post these yesterday because they pretty much explain how I felt about going back to work about the almost two week Christmas break.  You would think that after two weeks of doing not a whole heck of a lot I'd be bored and happy to go back to work but nope!  And I actually like my job!  I just really enjoyed my time off.

Anyways, here are some stamping decals I made using the MoYou London Rebel -03 plate over the break.  I tried making them three separate times before I finally made them work.  And then when I applied them I got bubbles galore but they were too cute to not post.

Sunday Stamping - Favorite Flower

Nothing to Disclose

Hey there!  This week's Sunday Stamping theme is Favorite Flower.  I had to think awhile about what my favorite flower would be and I decided it would be the plumeria flower which I saw a lot of when I was in Hawaii years ago.  Sadly I couldn't find a stamp that really looked like plumeria so I went with another common Hawaiian flower, the hibiscus flower.  And, to be even more indecisive, I did this maniure 2.5 times...

Glam Polish Swatches & Review

Press  Sample

Hey there!  You may notice my fancy new "Press Sample" button and disclosure policy.  That is because Sisi from Color4Nails was kind enough to send me some Glam Polish samples to review.  I cannot tell you how excited I am about it.  Not because it is free nail polish but because I have been a Color4Nails since I got into nail polish and their customer service is fantastic so this is a big honor for me.  Thank you Sisi!

My Christmas Nails

Hey there!  Happy New Year everybody!  I hope everyone had a fun and safe New Year's Eve and that 2014 turns out to be the best year yet!  Honestly so far my 2014 hasn't started great...I woke up this morning after my evening of nail polish and Doctor Who (I'm so cool) to find that some jerkhead had, likely in their partying hijinks, decided to massively dent the trunk of my car.  Not like someone had backed into it, more like the Incredible Hulk had punched the top of it.  Grrrr!!!  Hopefully that's me getting my bad luck out of the way for the year.

My New Year's resolution is to become a better blogger.  I'm still new in these parts, having just started in September, but I'm loving the nail polish community.  Some of these ladies are just soooo nice (I'm looking at you Julie and Jayne) so I'd like to become even more involved and to do that I need to pay more attention to my little corner of the internet.

The nails I've decided to share today aren't particularly beautiful and they're definitely not well executed but they were very special to me.  This is what I wore over Christmas this year.
