UberChic Beauty Collection 18 Review

Press  Sample

Hey there!  Well I'm back from the inaugural Indie Expo Canada and almost back to normal.  What a fun weekend!  I met so many of my nail heroes (makers, bloggers, stockists and other nail fanatics) and got to buy lots of new pretty polishes (and some body stuff).  For my weekend mani I tried to use all brands that were vending but I couldn't resist including UberChic Beauty's "Indies Do It Better" image.  Her brand new collection, Collection 18, is also full of great images that I'll be reviewing today.

If you've never heard me gush about UberChic Beauty, welcome and you might get annoyed at all my praise for these stamping plates.  They've always been amongst my favourites.  The plates are 9.5 x 14.5 cm in size with 17 x 21 mm full nail images (plus a few larger and some smaller).  The collections come as a set of 3 plates which tend to include something for everybody.  I think UberChic is (or should be ) known for florals and there's lots of pretty flowers included in this collection.  The etching is fantastic.  I did have one time bit of issue with one image which I'll mention below.

18-01

This was my very first Collection 18 mani.  The base is 2 coats of Different Dimension Ghost of Jupiter.  I used Mundo de Unas Black as my stamping polish and coloured in the flowers (on the stamper) with Rica Robin’s Egg Blue, Sugar Plum Wings, Pinky Promise, Ain’t It Peachy, Mellow Yellow and Summer Mint.  Those were applied with the advanced stamping method and topped with KBShimmer Clearly On Top.

Next I used my brand new Tonic Polish Slitherin' and gradient stamped with Mundo de Unas Grinch, Lemon Tree, Green and Dark Green.  I met the Tonic ladies at IEC and they were so incredibly sweet.  I love it when great polish is made my great people.

For this one I tried to mix a few of the tribal/festival style images.  I did a base of KBShimmer For Fox Sake or My Life's Porpoise and stamped with Mundo de Unas Dark Grey.  For the advanced stamping I used the same polishes plus Mundo de Unas White.

Collection 18 doesn't have a ton of layered/overlapping images but I knew I had to use this one.  I did a base of OPI Love.Angel.Music.Baby and then gradient stamped the first image with Hit The Bottle Let’s Go To The Beach, Drop Red Gorgeous, Psycho Pink, Magenta At Your Own Risk, Paint The Town Violet, A Bolt from the Blue, Sparkling Cyan-ide, Peacock Shimmer, The Green Fairy and Hello Buttercup.  Then for the top image I used Mundo de Unas Black.  I meant to grab Hit The Bottle's black at Indie Expo and I totally forgot.  Such a dumb move considering I was even volunteering at their table!

The bumblebees were another layered image.  I used Picture Polish Sun Flower or A England Camelot as the base.  The flowers were stamped with Hit The Bottle To Have and To Gold (which I did get another bottle of this weekend).  For the bees, I first stamped the black (Mundo de Unas Black) and them white (Messy Mansion Chalk).  This was the only issue I had with this collection.  I kept getting these little stamping holes in the wings, with a variety of stamping polish.  Since it was a layered image I had to use a clear stamper so I couldn't fix it by changing stampers.  No one in real life would notice such a small thing but in photos I sure do!

My final mani used another polish I had just bought, Cirque Shiny.  Again I did one of the overlapping images (can you tell I love those?).  I used Mundo de Unas Tutti for the purple and Messy Mansion Carbon for the black.  Easy peasy!

If any of these images call out to you, don't hesitate to snatch these plates up.  As I mentioned, my only problem was with the wings but I have a feeling that has more to do with the stamper than anything.  Other than that, these are flawless as always.
