Day 8 of the 31 Day Challenge is meant for Metallic Nails and I totally geeked out here. Have I mentioned that I'm a scientist by day? So I titled my metallic nails with their chemical symbols.
This might not be the best nail art I've ever put together but boy did I ever think I was funny when I came up with this idea last week. Unfortunately, in my search for colours to use, it seems that most metallic elements appear pretty much just silver in colour so I had to use my imagination a bit. I even consulted my friend who has his PhD in Metallurgy but he didn't come up with anything either.
For the colours here I used the Essie Mirror Metallics collection - Good As Gold (gold), No Place Like Chrome (silver), Penny Talk (copper), Blue Rhapsody (blue which I labelled as cobalt) and Nothing Else Metals (purple which I labelled as manganese). I used black acrylic paint to paint on their symbols and their atomic numbers. I'm a biologist, not a chemist, so I barely remember that an atomic number represents the number of protons in the nucleus of an atom. And I definitely don't remember what that truly means since my brain refuses to think smaller than the DNA level of things - which is why I do DNA nail art so often.
Since my thumb rarely makes the cut in my photos, here's poor little Manganese all on its own.
That's all for today. Two posts in a single day! And I know I'm going to have to do that at least once or twice more this week so I really really hope you guys don't get sick of me. I'm particularly looking forward to tomorrow's post since I already did my Rainbow Nails so at least stop by to check them out, if nothing else.
'Til next time...
