Turquoise Stone Nail Art & China Glaze Too Yacht To Handle

Hey there!  How is everyone's long weekend going?  I have a four day weekend which has unfortunately bad weather which has killed my plan to run away to the cabin.  Instead I'm marathon watching Downton Abbey on Netflix...so if I start writing like a 1920's aristocrat in the next few days please forgive me.

A couple of weeks ago I decided I wanted to try to do some nails that looks like turquoise stones and here's what I came up with.

I used three coats of China Glaze Too Yacht To Handle plus HK girl top coat to start.  Two coats is enough for coverage but, as much as I love the colours from the 2013 Sunsational Collection, some of them are a bit streaky so the third coat was to level it out.  But isn't it a great neon turquoise?

Then I used saran wrap to add just a tiny bit of gold, Mentality Jody.

The last step was to add water spotted black with Wet n Wild Black Creme with really big spots.  After this fail I was determined to get better at the water spotted technique and I was pretty happy with this.

After wearing these for a bit I couldn't decide if it looked like turquoise or butterfly wings.  But then one of my friends at ultimate actually said it looked like turquoise (unprovoked) so I'll call it a success!

'Til next time...
