UberChic Beauty Op Art Stamping Plate Review

Press  Sample

Hey there!  Today I have one of UberChic Beauty's latest stamping plates to share with you.  This Op Art Magic plate is right up my alley for the type of images I like.  I did have to ask Brittany why it was called Op Art - it's a mix of Optical Illusion and Pop Art (I so should have been able to figure that out on my own).  I love this type of swirly optical illusion images.  I love them so much that I did three manis already using this plate, all sparkly and all worn out into the real world as full manis.  That, in itself, speaks volumes about how much I like this plate!

As always, I'll start with the actual Op Art Magic plate I received.  These plates measure 14.5 x 9.5 cm with the full nail images measuring 17 x 21 mm.  Even though the images are way bigger than my nails, I found that I didn't lose the effect of these images.  I had no issues picking up any images though I did find that the blue film was heavier than usual and that some of the glue seemed to stick around on my plate.  You can see some of the fuzzy marks on the scan below.  That is glue, not scratches or scuffs.

I want to start with my favorite of the three manis I did.  It's glittery AND rainbow.  What could be better?!  For this I started with a silver holo glitter polish (pipe dream polish Cha-Ching! which is sadly discontinued).  I then used the Esmaltes da Kelly Soap Bubbles in the entire rainbow of colors to leadlight over the stamping.  The orange and yellow are a bit similar but that's definitely my only complaint about how these turned out.

For my second design, I used FUN Lacquer Holo Queen from the Simply Nailogical collaboration, possibly because the name just happens to be on this plate.  How could I resist pairing them since I'd just gotten both.  For the swirly water marble type of pattern I used half Mundo de Unas Black and half Light Grey and tried to gradient them vertically.  I then stamped Holo Queen in Mundo de Unas White.  It didn't pick up well with my clear stamper but I've just come to accept that I never get perfect images from clear stampers.

My final mani was a simply one color stamped on one color.  I used Nubar Red Glitter over Victoria's Secret Boudoir and stamped with Essie No Place Like Chrome.  I also used the XL Clear Stamper for this one but it picked up much better, even though I was using chrome polish that doesn't usually mix with clear stampers.  Sometimes it's a mystery why some stamping works great and others doesn't....

In case it's not obvious, I'd definitely recommend this plate, particularly if you love this type of image like I do.  I'm loving what UberChic has been coming out with lately (and what will be launched this Friday which I was lucky enough to get a sneak peak at).  Seriously, Brittany is on fire.  You can check her stuff out in the links below.
