The Digit-al Dozen does Negative Space: Day 5 - Orange Tie Dye

Hey there!  Yesterday I mentioned that I tried to combine the fifth and final day of The Digit-al Dozen's Negative Space week with my prompts for 40 Great Nail Art Ideas.  This week we're all doing orange manis and I had the personal prompt of tie dye.  Do you know how hard it is to combine tie dye and negative space and orange?!  Let me tell ya, it's really freaking hard.  But I tried and here's what I came up with.  It did end up growing on me as I wore it but these are two themes I hope to never have to combine again...

As with most of my negative space designs this week, I used a coat of Essie Au Natural as a base.  I like the naked look it gives.

For the tie dye, I made decals by putting down some clear polish on my UberMat and, once dry, using Dance Legend 306 (I don't think it has a name) and Pure Ice Superstar!, leaving some space in between.  I tried to do a radiating tie dye pattern with the drag marble technique.

Tie dye is always a tough look for me to try to achieve on my nails so these are far from perfect but I think they do fit with all three themes so I'll call it an almost success.

That brings us to the end of negative space week.  I'm pretty proud of myself for not bailing on this one.  It actually made me like negative space more than I did before.  My DD friends have done some absolutely stunning looks this week.  You can see how they've chosen to end the week in the links below.  There's also the rest of the orange manis in the second set of links.  I can guarantee that there's gonna be some nicer ones than mine so go check them out.

Til next time...
