Neon Water Spotted Nail Fail

Hey there!  I think this is the first time I've shown any sort of water spotted nail art and now you can see why.  I don't know how to make it work!  But I still like how these turned out...

I was browsing Instagram and saw this jawbreaker look by @amkuch15 and wanted to try it for myself.  After not being able to get hairspray to created holes in my floating polish I came across this tutorial showing how to do it with acetone and a toothbrush and thought I'd give it a try.  It's way easier but didn't create very big holes so there isn't much white peaking through.  It ended up looking more like a saran wrap mani than a water spotted one.

I started with 2 coats of OPI Alpine Snow for a white base.  For the water spotted attempt I used Color Club Ultra Violet (purple) then Electro Candy (pink) and then Tangerine Scream (orange).  Then finished it off with a good coat of HK Girl top coat.

On my other hands are some neon studs that I bought from Born Pretty Store.  They matched the Color Club colours perfectly!

Completely unrelated, the reason I've been missing for a couple of days is that I've been pretty preoccupied.  I got word on Monday that my friend Sarah was injured in a car accident on Sunday night on her way home from a women's ultimate frisbee training camp in Saskatchewan.  She's in the ICU with a broken femur, humerus (the long, hard-to-break bones in the leg and arm), broken jaw...she's been pretty busted up.  So if anyone has any spare positivity, feel free to send some on over to her here in Edmonton.  I did these last night so that when she's alert she'll be able to she can see that she was in my thoughts (and many others).  This is based on something we did on her nails one of the last times she came over so I hope she likes it :-)

'Til next time...
