The Digit-al Dozen does Autumn – Day 2 Deer In The Woods

Hey there!  Before I get started, I have to apologize for neglecting to welcome Carmina from Cubbiful to our group.  I’ve been a fan of hers for awhile and I think she’s going to be great for this crazy group of ours!

Today I have my second autumn mani.  I did these for my friend’s birthday last month (yes, I’m such a keener that I try to get my DD nails done a month ahead of time) because every fall we lose him to the bush as he hunts for food.  He really enjoys it, maybe almost as much as I enjoyed this mani.  I think this is my favorite of mine this week.

Sunday Stamping - Disco Nails

Hey there!  This week's Sunday Stamping votes were soooooo close - it was a nail biter!  But the theme that won for today was Disco Nails.  I personally voted for it because I knew I had one disco plate that doesn't get much love from me so I wanted to use it.  And I did for these colorful throwback -to-the-70's nails.

Sunday Stamping: Let's Go Fishing

Hey there!  This week's Sunday challenge is a call for summer-themed nails.  I haven't been able to go fishing yet this summer so I decided to do some fishing-themed nails (a fun summer pastime for my family) to try to call on the weather gods to not make our lake so wavy so I can actually get in a boat without risk of seasickness.  And it's the second time in 3 weeks that I used this Winstonia plate for a Sunday stamping post.  I must like it!

Country Plaid Nail Stamping

Hey there!  This week's 52 Week Pick n Mix challenge themes are "plaid" and "red, orange and green".   At first I had tried to freehand a plaid pattern but that went terribly so I went to my true love, stamping, to try to incorporate both themes.  I wasn't terribly impressed with how these turned out but wasn't inspired by the prompts enough to try a different look despite having plenty of time.  I always do my Crumpet's Nail Tarts mani's in order but I like being a bit ahead so I did these about a month and a half ago.

Sunday Stamping - Reptile Skin Nails

Hey there!  This week's Sunday stamping challenge theme is Snakeskin & Other Reptiles.  I do love scaly stamping patterns.  For this time around I used a pattern I hadn't tried before.  I'm not sure what reptile the pattern is meant to be but I was thinking of it as a "disco snake" since this is way more sparkly and colourful than any reptile I've ever seen in real life.  Maybe it's a sparkly chameleon!

The Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy Nail Art

Hey there!  For those of you who don't know, I participate in a book club on Facebook, called The Polished Bookworms, filled with nail polish-loving folk like me.  It's super fun to read books that I might not normally hear about and then do nail art inspired by them.  This month's book definitely wasn't new to me.  I read it ages ago (and still remember laughing out loud while reading it for the first time) so I gladly re-read it last month for the book club.  As the post title suggests, this month's book was The Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy.  I couldn't resist doing a galaxy mani (inspired by the book cover) that I then mostly covered with some stamping inspired by my favourite part of the book.

The Maze Runner-Inspired Nail Art

Hey there!  Like I told you about last month, I'm in a Facebook book club call The Polished Bookworms filled with wonderful folks who are into both reading and nail polish  We vote on a book to read each month and on the last day of the month we post our mani's based on the book.  This month's genre was Young Adult and it was a dystopian novel, The Maze Runner by James Dashner, that was chosen.  Here's my stamping mani inspired by the book.

The Digit-al Dozen Does Patterns On Patterns: Day 4 Zebra-Striped Leopard Print

Hey there!  Day 4 of the Patterns On Patterns week for The Digit-al Dozen.  I did this zebra-on-leopard stamping at the suggestion of my darling sister when I was trying to think of ideas.  She wanted pink but I had to go with turquoise (simply because I like turquoise nail polish so much more).  A few of the other girls have done some fantastic leopard/zebra combinations this week and honestly mine is bit boring compared to theirs but that's okay.  They give me something to aspire to!

Sunday Stamping - Valentine's Day Nails

Hey there!  Not surprisingly, today's Sunday Stamping theme is Valentine's Day Nails so I thought this would be a good time to post these nails that I did with red and purple alcohol inks last weekend. If you haven't heard of using alcohol inks on nails before (honestly I'd never heard of alcohol inks at all before a couple of weeks ago), keep reading for a link to a really helpful YouTube video.

Big Little Lies-inspired Nail Art

Hey there!  When Lindsey of Wondrously Polished started a Facebook book club called The Polished Bookworms for those of us who love nail polish AND reading I jumped at the chance to take part.  Every month we'll be reading a book voted on by the members and then, at the end of the month, posting our mani's inspired by the book.  This month's book is Big Little Lies by Liane Moriarty, a suspenseful fiction book.  I don't want to give anything away but, in order to explain this mani, I will say it starts with some champagne-induced bonding and has some "fizzy pink drinks" that play into the most revealing scene.

The Digit-al Dozen Does Fairy Tales: Day 5 The Everyday Fairy Tale (and the extras)

Hey there!  It's the final day of my first week with The Digit-al Dozen and it's been so much fun seeing how all the ladies have interpreted the fairy tale theme.  For my final mani of the week I thought I'd represent the fairy tale that many people get to live, even if they don't see it that way :-P  As a single girl, I do still dream of one day meeting my Prince Charming and living happily ever after.  Even though these aren't based on what we think of as a fairy tale, I think these are my favourite ones of mine this week.  What do you think?

Turkey Nail Stamping

Hey there!  It's Christmas Eve and today I'm sharing what I really hope is a funny Xmas mani that I did this weekend.  Ever since I got the Cici & Sisi plates, my sister has been bugging me to use the cooked turkey image so I finally did in this life cycle of a holiday turkey.

Sunday Stamping - Winter Memories

Hey there!  Holy, what a day!  The reason I'm so late with today's Sunday stamping challenge post is that I was out ALL day and I'm never organized enough to pre-write posts.  I went to brunch for a friend's birthday, then to a live CBC Radio program then a birthday dinner with an old friend's family.  It was great so see so many friends but I am beat!  Luckily I did get my Sunday stamping mani done yesterday.  This week's theme was "winter memories from my childhood" and well, to put it simply, I'm Canadian so almost all my winter memories involve snow.  Lots and lots of snow.  And I've been itching to do a jelly stampwich so I took this opportunity to do a snowflake sandwich.

Sunday Stamping - Leadlight Technique

Hey there!  Wow, I have not been up to writing lately.  Writing has always been the hardest part of blogging for me and it seems particularly bad lately.  It's as though my head is out of words...which is funny because my head never shuts up.  Anyways, because of this lack of words, I have a later-than-planned Sunday Stamping post tonight.  This week's theme was the Leadlight Technique.  I love lead lighting so I thought I'd use the opportunity to show what I actually wore on my nails this past Tuesday on Remembrance Day.

Sunday Stamping - Halloween Nails

Hey there!  It's no surprise that this week's Sunday Stamping theme is Spooky & Scary Nails.  So I'm sharing this Halloween scene I did over Indigo Bananas Walk This Way.  And, as a bonus, it glows in the dark!

Fall Hunting Nail Stamping

Hey there!  How's everyone's weekend going?  Mine has felt super busy but I don't know what I've been busy with.  I'm a bit obsessed with Halloween nails already but today I have something different.  I wore these this past week after a couple of my curling teammates got home from a hunting trip.  I thought they'd like them but they were too interested.  Silly boys!

31DC2014 Day 24 - Inspired by The Incarnations of Immortality

Hey there!  I have to admit I am so not feeling motivated to write up this post.  Day 24 of the 31 Day Challenge is Inspired by a book day.  I love reading.  I read every night.  But do you think I could come up with a decent idea for today?  Nope.  Since I managed to get a few days ahead on the challenge, I was doing these this past weekend and I just kept staring at my bookshelf.  Eventually I grabbed a series of books called The Incarnations of Immortality by Piers Anthony and used the first five (out of the eight in the series) and used them for my inspiration.

Rainforest Animal Nail Stamping & ILNP Reminisce

Hey there!  Today I have some cute animal nails to share with you.  This mani has all kinds of stamping: layered stamping, stamping decals, gradient stamping...woohoo!  And all the images are from Winstonia W-03 (the rainforest plate) and all the stamping polishes used are Mundo de Unas polishes.

Stained Glass Nail Art

Hey there!  As the title suggests, today's post is my take on stained glass.  I've seen so many awesome stained glass nail art looks so I decided to give it a shot...with stamping, of course.  So for these I used Winstonia W206 and the 10.1 Polish Icing collection.

Sunday Stamping - Sunray Nail Stamping

Hey there!  So today's Sunday Stamping theme isn't sunday nails but I didn't want to title the post with what the theme is.  The theme is actually "a stamp you don't like".  My logic behind my pick wasn't because I don't like the image.  I really like this image but it's so darn hard to use.  I've tried to use it many times in the past and they were always massive fails because I'm terrible at centring it on my nail.  But I think I managed it this time...or at least I managed better than I have before!
