Hey there! Yes, I'm alive! I realize I haven't posted in a month and never explained...but I bought a house! So over the last month I was on vacation for 2 weeks (such an adult decision to go on vacation in the middle of the most stressful time ever), packed up and cleaned the old apartment, moved, unpacked and spent more money than I have in my entire life since it turns out houses need far more furniture than apartments. And, of course, I broke most of my nails in the process which was okay because I was kind of checked out of nail world for awhile. But I'm back just in time for this month's Digit-al Dozen theme of Wool/Copper (the traditional 7th anniversary gifts since September marks the DD's 7th year in existence). I haven't done any manis ahead of time but I did pull out my stamping goodies last night so I wouldn't have to miss this week. As I was moving I received some new plates from UberChic Beauty so I thought I'd combine the Lovely Leaves 4 plate with some copper stamping since copper is such a perfect autumn color.

The Digit-al Dozen does Christmas In July - Christmas Flamingos!
Hey there! After my last couple of posts (which were pretty blech) I'm happy to be ending The Digit-al Dozen's Christmas In July week with one that I think is pretty darn cute. Seriously, what's better than flamingos in Santa hats? Nothing, that's what!

The Digit-al Dozen does Christmas In July - Neon Santa
Hey there! It's Day 4 of The Digit-al Dozen's Christmas In July week and today's mani is pretty much a nail fail. I wanted to do typical holiday images but in neon so it would be summer-y but I was clearly not on my game the night I did these. Once I put the picture on the computer I wasn't happy so I did another neon holiday mani but it was even worse! So I gave up and stuck with this one. But I promise, tomorrow's mani won't suck so bear with me...

The Digit-al Dozen does Christmas In July - Santa Flying Over The Tropics
Hey there! I know, it's pretty late to be getting up a Digit-al Dozen post but gotta fit in the blogging when I can...ya know? For today's Christmas In July design, I wanted to have Santa and his reindeer flying over a tropical sunset. I also wanted that sunset to be snowing but that got pretty hidden...but the thought was there!

The Digit-al Dozen does Christmas In July - Merry Summer!
Hey there! I asked my sister to help me come up with Christmas In July nail ideas for this week's Digit-al Dozen theme and she came across a picture of a watermelon Christmas tree. It was just such a perfect blend of summer and Christmas that I couldn't not use it. I wasn't entirely sure what else to do with it but I thought neon Christmas lights would be fun so that's what I have to share today.

The Digit-al Dozen does Christmas In July - Christmas Beach Party
Hey there! Long time, no talk! I've been a bit of a mess lately so blogging hasn't been highest on my priority list. But the reason is a pretty exciting one...I've been looking to buy a house and I think I found one! It's been mighty stressful though. I don't know how some people look for ages and ages looking for the perfect place. I would probably develop 500 ulcers if I did that. It's been about 2 months for me and that's plenty! But, stress or not, I didn't want to miss our Digit-al Dozen week. This month's theme is Christmas In July. At first I hated the idea of the theme but it ended up being pretty fun. For my first mani, I went with a beach party design. Because even Santa and his elves deserve some relaxation time, tropical drinks and all!

The Digit-al Dozen does Vacation - Stormy Tropics
Hey there! It's the last day of The Digit-al Dozen's Vacation week. For the last hurrah, I have a result that was quite different than the intent. I thought I'd be getting a calm, sunny tropical mani but what I got ended up looking like a storm! Let me know if you see the same as me. To me it looks like water, trees and lightning...though that could just be my fear of lightning that's making me see it.

The Digit-al Dozen does Vacation - My Hawaii Nails
Hey there! For today's Digit-al Dozen Vacation mani, I decided it'd be a good time to post the mani I actually wore went I went on vacation this year. I only go on a real vacation every 5 years so when I do, deciding what to put on my nails is STRESSFUL. Am I alone in that? I don't know why I get so stressed since I always bring other polish and change it when I'm away but I guess it's hard for me to decide on something that I know will be on my nails for at least the first few days. For my Hawaiian vacation this year, I decided to use an old Maniology (then Bundle Monster) plate that was put out in a Polynesian bundle with the islands of Hawaii in the shape of flowers.

The Digit-al Dozen does Vacation - Camping Nails
Hey there! For Day 3 of The Digit-al Dozen's Vacation week, I did a vacation idea that so many people I know love...camping. Personally I haven't slept in a tent or even a camper in close to 20 years. I will always choose the comfort of a bed over the ground but that's just me...

The Digit-al Dozen does Vacation - Live Love Lake
Hey there! It's the second day of The Digit-al Dozen's Vacation Week and, since I tend to spend all my vacation time at the lake, I really wanted to do some slightly less tropical nails. A couple weeks ago my sister and I did a sign painting night and I think one of the phrases you could paint was "Live Love Lake" and I thought I could get that on my nails. But of course there wasn't a stamping plate with just the word "lake" so I tried to improvise....and failed. I do love the lake but it turns out it was impossible for me to turn the word love into lake without creating this mess! Other than that one word though, I did like this mani. Apparently I just need to convince a plate maker to throw the "Lake" onto a plate so I can do this again, properly!

The Digit-al Dozen does Vacation with UberChic Beauty Beach Please and Modern Tropical
Press Sample
Hey there! It's time for a new Digit-al Dozen week! This month our theme is Vacation and, since when I think of vacation, I think of tropical destinations which fits perfectly with two new plates from UberChic Beauty that I received to review. The last package I received contained a bunch of wrapped up surprise plates to be opened and revealed on certain days. On May 29th, she released these two plates, Beach Please and Modern Tropical. And this week there will be a new plate everyday. How fun! In addition, she has recently released some gel polish including stamping gel polish which is what I used for all the stamping today. I do have swatches of each as well but I haven't gotten them up yet. Hopefully that'll be up tomorrow in case you wanted to have a look at everything on its own as well.

The Digit-al Dozen does Colors - Orange Dotticure
Hey there! I hope all my Canadian friends are excited for the long weekend. I know I am because that means I can finally go back to my happy place, the lake. But first, my final Digit-al Dozen Colors/Colorful mani. I went with a color I don't wear all the often - orange. I think the only color I wear less than orange is yellow which is why I fully eliminated yellow from my rainbow this week. I actually copycat-ed myself today with this mani I did over 4 years ago with a concentric dotticure. I just changed up the color.

The Digit-al Dozen does Colors - Red Brushstroke Nails
Hey there! For Day 4 of the Digit-al Dozen's Color/Colorful week, I wanted to focus on red today. I was trying to use different techniques as well as different colors for my manis this week For today I did a really quick brushstroke mani focusing on red. When I did these this weekend I believe I described them as "the stuff of nightmares" but, looking at them again, I kinda like them. They're more abstract than my typical nail art but abstract is good!

The Digit-al Dozen does Colors - Purple (invisible) Gradient and Stamping
Affiliate Code
Hey there! This is what we call bedtime blogging...or at least I do. It's 11:54 pm and I should be getting ready for bed but I haven't gotten today's Digit-al Dozen post done yet so today is gonna be a quickie. My color of choice today is purple. I wanted to do something inspired by this awesome mani from @teenynails but where I went strayed from the original idea. But since I never get tired of nighttime silhouette looks, I loved it. Most of the products I used can still be found on Maniology's website (even though I purchased these plates ages ago). If you want to do something similar with them you can use the code COPY10 to save yourself 10% on them.

The Digit-al Dozen does Colors - Blue Stripes
Hey there! For my second Digit-al Dozen Colors mani, I'm going with blue. And to pair with my favourite color, I did my favourite nail look - stripes! I don't know why but stripes are definitely my favourite pattern. Unfortunately stripes are near impossible for me to stamp so I don't wear them all that often. But a Digit-al Dozen week is worth the time it takes to use stencils so that's what I did for today.

The Digit-al Dozen does Colors - Green Drip Marble
Hey there! Today is the start of a new Digit-al Dozen's week. This week we doing Colors/Colorful. I decided to take this prompt as an opportunity to really focus on a single color for each mani. So each day I'll have a different color focus, sort of like the start of the 31 Day Challenge (which I haven't participated in for years). I'm starting with my favourite mani that I did for these theme - a green drip marble. Actually it's a multichrome green drip marble and I absolutely loved wearing it. It hurt a little to use that much of some of my favourite polishes but in the end I thought it was worth it.

The Digit-al Dozen does Albums - The Police's Zenyatta Mondatta
Affiliate Code
Hey there! I have a confession to make. I honestly hadn't even heard of the album I picked for my final Digit-al Dozen mani this week. I just had the itch to do a gradient and this album cover starts with a gradient so I went with it. The Police's Zenyatta Mondatta was released in 1980. I wasn't even 2 years old and it doesn't have that many big hits on it so I guess it isn't a big shock that I don't know it. But it did make for some fun nails!

The Digit-al Dozen does Albums - Kendrick Lamar's Damn
Hey there! I must apologize for the poor language on today's nails but it just couldn't be helped. Most of the albums I've done for The Digit-al Dozen's theme this week are older so I wanted to include a more current one. Lately I mostly listen to hip-hop music (which most people don't expect from me) and I loved Kendrick Lamar's album Damn. So now I have a curse word on my nails...it just couldn't be helped, haha!

The Digit-al Dozen does Albums - Smashing Pumpkins' Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness
Hey there! I'm back today with my third Digit-al Dozen Albums mani. For today's mani I certainly took my liberties with my interpretation of the album cover. Smashing Pumpkins are probably my all-time favourite band. They were the first "alternative" music I listened to back in high school. Previous to this, it was all about pop and dance music. My friend had recorded Siamese Dream onto a cassette (yes, a cassette because it was approximately 1993) and I fell in love. Then a couple years later they released Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness and I played it constantly! I even had the ZERO shirt that Billy Corgan wore for this tour (that I picked up at the concert). So when I saw Emily de Molly's May Polish Pickup polish, A Piece Of You, was inspired by this album, I had to have it. So while my nail art might not be anywhere near the album cover, the polish certainly is.

The Digit-al Dozen does Albums - The Tragically Hip's In Violet Light
Hey there! When trying to decide on albums to try to do for The Digit-al Dozen's theme this week, I decided I wanted to do an album by The Hip. For anyone reading this who isn't Canadian, The Tragically Hip was (and is) the quintessential Canadian rock band. They never really broke through in the US but that was okay. They sung songs about all sorts of Canadiana and we all loved them for it. I saw them live a few times which I'm very thankful for. I'm old enough that I even waited overnight in line for tickets (outdoors!) to my first Hip show (this was before the online ticket sales times). Sadly, the front man, Gord Downie, died from brain cancer in 2017. I know I wasn't alone in getting emotional when I heard the news. This past weekend I came across a documentary which followed their final tour (after his cancer diagnosis - yes, he toured one last time after getting diagnosed). I had seen it before but I still couldn't turn it off. It was like getting to spend a little more time with old friends. Anyway, I wanted to do some Hip nail art but most their album covers didn't lend themselves well to nail art. But the 2002 album In Violet Light was perfect. I had to freehand again but I hope I managed to do their artwork justice.
